Cook with us!  Enjoy all of the benefits of coming to a cooking class—a hands-on class taught by two Red Seal Chefs—but in the comfort of your own home!  While cooking with us we’ll go through every recipe, step-by-step, answering all of your key questions: the WHY’s, HOW’S and HOW MUCH and HOW LONG questions. 

 

Today’s Theme: Summer Date Night!  Whether you are enjoying your backyard or up at the cottage, join us for a relaxing cook through of a fantastic gourmet meal for 2!  These recipes are quick to prepare, use simple, summer-inspired ingredients and versatile cooking techniques for rain or shine cooking :)  The menu below is designed for 2 people.  

 

Menu:

'Caesar' Stuffed Mushrooms

Chili-Honey Grilled Shrimp 

Grilled Flat-Iron Steak with Fried Bread, Tomato & Caper Salad 
Local Fruit Fool 

 

Shopping List: (BOLD/UNDERLINED/HIGHLIGHTED items will be in the Ingredient Pick-Up Pack.  Pick-up 2pm at Culinary Studio on same day of class—arrive at Studio between 2:00-2:15 and pop your trunk)

Produce:

 

8-12 large mushrooms

1 lemon

1 lime

1 large ripe tomato (beefsteak)

½ bunch of basil

2 cups fruit (strawberries, rhubarb, peaches, raspberries)

2 cloves garlic

½ red onion

 

Protein/Dairy:

 

½ cup grated parmesan cheese

2 anchovies

8 large shrimp

2 x 6 oz flat iron steaks

1 cup 35% cream

 

Pantry:

 

2 tbsp. capers

2 tsp. Dijon mustard

1 tbsp. red wine vinegar

1 tbsp. honey

1 cup coarse bread crumbs*

approx. 2 cups cubed, stale bread*

approx.. 1 cup olive oil

kosher salt, as needed

freshly ground black pepper, as needed

½ cup sugar, brown or white

 

 *essentially a ½ loaf of your favourite country or sourdough bread would give you all that is needed for these recipes.  Best if not super fresh.
