Today’s Theme: We are feeding your Schawarma addiction here!  Spiced, marinated chicken, all the fixings for a platter, and the NYC-inspired Garlic Sauce that you'll want for everything.  Bring on the feast!

Oven-Roasted Chicken Schawarma

Ingredient List/Shopping List: 

3 cloves garlic

1 inch piece ginger

3 lemons

1 large cooking onion

1 bunch carrots

½ head red cabbage


2 ½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1 ½ cups plain, full-fat yogurt

¼ cup mayonnaise

¼ cup tahini


1 ½ cups long grain basmati

½ cup ‘sharia’ (tiny thin ‘vermicelli’ pasta)

1 tbsp. white vinegar

1 tbsp. za’atar spice

1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar

Spice #1 (Chicken):     1/2 tsp. turmeric + 2 tsp. ground cumin + ½ tsp. ground coriander + ¼ tsp. ground cloves

Spice #2 (Rice):  ¾ tsp. turmeric + ¼ tsp. ground cumin + pinch cinnamon + pinch saffron
